Hello everyone,
Am currently studying clothing design and technology at University and am in my final year conducting my dissertation. My dissertation is on Haute Couture and its relevance to the fashion industry in the modern day. As part of my primary research I wanted to get the opinions of people on Haute couture its relevance and impact on the fashion industry and whether it still has a future. This can be done completely anonymous no names need to be given. I understand that your extremely busy but would be really appreciative if you could take the time to answer some of my questions.

In the past haute couture has been used more for the publicity for the super brands than for creating a profit.
- Do you think it is still a necessary now with other ways to publicise the brands
-Do you think that that the fashion industry would carry on as normal if haute couture was to discontinue?
- Would the decrease in publicity really affect already established brands like Dior and Channel?
-What is the fascination with it even for people who can not afford it?
Workshops in Paris like Lesage and Lemarie were initially used to embroider haute couture but now find that 80% of their business is taken up by work for ready to wear.
- Do you think Haute Couture still has a market now that ready to wear is becoming more like Haute Couture?
- Or will there always be a market for the made to measure?
From your point of view how relevant is haute Couture to the fashion industry?
- Do you feel it still had something to offer / does it still help with setting trends?
Haute couture has become a form of art being donated to museums and displayed to the public do you agree with it being an art form?
- Two sides to this is that displaying it takes away the purpose of the garment as it can not be worn, but that wearing some of them can damaged.
Has an haute couture collection ever inspired you in any of your work?
- Is it still an inspiration to fellow designers?
