Too tall for heels?

I'm 5"11, 135 lbs. I shy away from heels for fear of looking like a "Sasquatch" or a giant. When I put on heels, I can reach up to 6"2-3. They say height is a gift and a flattering trait, but when is tall TOO tall??? Yes, height is good up to a point... but when does it cross over into that "giant"-looking realm???

Maybe when you stand too close to short people? I mean, it's probably okay if you're going out with people who are in the same height range, you can wear heels then.

^^ Agree to mudkipz.. Like If you are here in our country, and you choose to wear high heels with that height, you would definitely look like a giant one..So If you're having second thoughts on wearing heels then better stick to flat shoes and sandals..

... if it makes you uncomfortable, or those around you uncomfortable, and makes you feel self-conscience of your height, maybe it is too tall. Carry some flats as a spare.:)

I wouldn't worry about being too tall. I am 5'10, 110lbs. I am always wearing heels. When I was younger, I always felt funny because of my height and weight, but I've learned to deal with it. Some people would kill for our height and our legs.:D

Thats only because your super-thin so its okay to look really tall. I am already on the cusp of being underweight and Im 135 so you must be tiny tiny tiny!!! ;)

I totally get where you're coming from here... I'm also 5"11, and love heels, but I always tend to shy away from wearing them because I feel too tall. I don't think I have the confidence to be noticed much. If my friends are also wearing heels, I feel a bit better, but I hate being taller than guys. xP
I also always feel as if heels make my big feet a big less noticeable, which makes it suck even more that I feel daft in them.

But if you feel confidant, then go for it! Confidence is the best accessory. =D

If you feel comfortably wearing them, do it! Don't worry about being taller than a guy because unless he has a serious reason, a guy gettin annoyed if you are taller than him must have some serious hidden problems with himself!!! Anyway, look at Sophie Dahl, really pretty, tall and wears heels while out with a short guy. I am 5' 10" and love heels, if you look good and are ok with it wear them. Try wearing them under long trousers to sort of ease yourself into things!

I dunno, my last boyfriend was about 2 inches shorter than me normally and I live in 5" heels!!! I did mind that a lot actully, but as time went on I just stopped worrying about it! ;) Look at Rod Stewart and his lovely lady! she's much taller than him and wears heels\!!

As a woman who is over 5"11 Ballet Flats when you have the feet to match your height is not a good way to go. The reason for this is ballet flats tend to make our feet look longer and flatter than they really are. I try to stay with boots with rounded toes (points tend to elongate the feet) and shorter heels usually 1 inch max.

I'm a guy who's really tall (6'9") and I won't date a tall girl that doesn't wear heels. And it honestly has nothing to do with the fact that i'm so tall either. I just appreciate tall women who aren't embarassed by their height. I find it incredibly sexy. Embrace your femininity and height. To hell with what everyone else says. I'm a guy and have to wear boring stuff so I appreciate it when a woman actually dresses like a woman. Besides... there are far too many short women in the world. Don't be afraid to stand out a bit :D

I feel short when all my friends wear heels and I don't because I normally tower over them. Having height is great and we should be proud if it. My friends call me "the meeting beacon", since my head always is above the crowd, they can always find me if they get lost in the crowd! height definitely has it's advantages!

My sister is 6' and she bought a fabulous pair of mustard and black brogue-style flat pumps from www.duoboots.com. They are great because they do bigger sizes which is a problem for her sometimes and they do different widths. Also they don't make her feet look big. I loved them but being a wee 5'2 wanted a heel so we have the same shoes but I have the ones with quite a high heel. You are really lucky to be tall so enjoy it - just find pretty shoes with a heel you are comfortable with.:)

Yeah wear heels that will not make you look super tall so you'll not feel uncomfortable when in a crowd.

I don't think you can ever be too tall for heels.
I find putting on a pair of heels to be incredibly empowering (then again, I am just below 5ft4), don't forget that height and levels are a way of showing status. So put them on and stand tall.

I wouldn't recommend wearing ones with a hidden platform, or infact, any sort of platform. A height of about 3-4" inches would be ideal. Just think how lovely and long your legs will look!

The key is confidence, all slouching is banned!

I'm 5'11 and I used to wear a lot of heels, but over the years I opted for flats.
I was never self concious about my height.
I think that as long as you don't hunch your shoulders you'll always look great no matter what height you are
