View Full Version : Do you only wear foundation as sun screen?

In summer, do you just wear foundation to block the sun, or apply proper sun screen or day cream with SPF? If I am right, I think a lot of girls wear foundation, because it hides pimples and freckles and adds brightness to the face.
I use day cream with SPF now, but I am thinking about a switch to foundation. One thing I worry is sweat might make foundation run off and form orange blobs instead.
Do I worry too much?

I've never worn foundation and don't understand why young girls do. When I was in high school, a lot of the girls caked themselves in make up, even if they had flawless, perfect skin, I really didn't understand it.
And doesn't wearing foundation to cover spots, just make it worse?? Wouldn't you just want to let your skin breathe instead? I think this is a field that I am completely confused about.
The day cream with SPF sounds great to me.

I nearly forgot this thread.
I thought the same as you before, so I never touched foundation until last summer. (I'm 28 now, not a high school girl.:) ) Last summer, I tried for a while. I found it really brought brighness to my face and I looked more energetic. Also, even I am not young school girl, I still have pimples! After pimples are gone, marks left by which are so annoying. So I started trying foundation. But as I held the same idea on foundation as you, hence the thread.
This year, I only use foundation for certain occasions. But I think I will use it more often from now because of aging...(oh, sth. I don't want to happen) I'm sure there must be some good stuff that not only makes you look good, but also is safe to use. I'll do some research. :)

As much as possible, I don't put anything with my face because I know that using some beauty products might irritate my skin. And I know that simplicity is the best...So I only use foundation for special occasions...

I wear a SPF 15 moisturizer no matter what! If I'm not going to the beach, I might use a foundation - also with good SPF. But at the beach, I wear only the moisturizer.

I wear Neutrogena sunscreen with helioplex. I wear it everyday even on cloudy overcast days. I even wear it under make up foundation.

I use only Moisturizer, think this is more than enough to protect skin from sun!
I don't use foundation at the beach. I use sunscreens, those that come in water resistant formulas. It will surely stay on for 90 minutes even if your are swimming. Lip-glosses with SPF are quite effective in preventing dried sun burned lips. :)

I never use foundation as a suncream. I always use suncream rather than any other products.

I wear only foundation, only if it's a very sunny day, I put suncream. But take care, don't use suncream with more than 20 SPF! Our chemist teacher explained how does the suncream works. The cream particles enter in our pores and reflects the sun. But as we know, perfect reflection doesn't exist. So the unreflected radius will get directly in contact with our skin, that means cancer :( I hope you understood what I was trying to explain :)

Hey!
I hardly ever wear sunscreen. I have an olive color skin tone so I generally dont get to burnt by the sun much anyway.
But I do wear Mac foundation. Mac foundation helps to cover up my pimples, plus this type of foundation has SPF15 therefore I dont have to worry about getting burnt in the sun.
If I am in the sun for a long period of time then I will apply a light coat of sunscreen over my makeup.

Sheer Tint, is the perfect choice for someone who has "good skin" and does not need a lot of coverage. This type of mineral makeup is a multi-tasking foundation, sunscreen and antioxidant lotion all in one.
Yes.of course.thank you for your sharing.i think it's good.
