Hey I'm Dave, going to a slightly strange fancy dress party, in that the theme is "fancy" dress, i.e. a fashion trend from any period in time which inspired you. I've decided to mesh the glam rock styling with some electro elements, and am in a quandary as to what to do with my shoes (you may notice this bears a lot of resemblance to other posts of mine :D)

I don't want to wear platforms, as I'm already 6'3. What other kind of shoe would go well with this kind of outfit (I'm currently thinking lizardskin cowboy boots with nuff tassles and sparkles)

EDIT: Just realised I misspelt "shoe" in the title. How embarassing

I can't stand cowboy boots, could be me? I'd go for something more along the lines of a Beatles boot or anything worn in the Saturday Night Fever movie...

Oh I entirely understand not loving cowboy boots. My concern about the Beatles boot/SNF is that it might be a bit straight laced for the "rock androgyny" aim of the outfit.

In that case try and dig up some pics of Bowie from the 80's.

I found a guide on Wikihow for making your own glitter shoes, How to Make Glitter Shoes - WikiHow (http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Glitter-Shoes)

What do you guys think of this? Anyone done anything similar?
