The Council of Fashion Designers of America have announced the nominees for this year's fashion Oscars. A ceremony on June 5 will see Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for Proenza Schouler, and Marc Jacobs compete for the night's big award – Womenswear Designer of the Year, 2006. Meanwhile Ralph Lauren, Thom Brown and Cloak's Alexandre Plokhov are nominated for the Menswear Award, Olivier Theyskens for Rochas will take the International Award, CFDA president Stan Herman will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement gong, Bruce Weber will receive the Eugenia Sheppard Award and Tom Binns, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors are up for the Accessory Designer of the Year title. The event, which will take place at the New York Public Library and will be hosted by Entourage star Jeremy Piven, will also see designers honoured in the Perry Ellis category which has been sponsored by Swarovski for the past five years. After the nominees were announced yesterday, this year's awards selection committee will be able to vote online and view each nominee's collection, from April 24, at www.cfda.com.
