Hi! I'm a newbie and I need some help. I'm looking to sell some new clothes online and am wondering if setting up an ebay store is the best way to do it. Do any of you shop on other "malls" or is ebay the biggest and best??

Thanks!

Try Ebay, however Ebay is not for every product. Make a search and see if there are any similar clothes and see what they sell for. I admit it's very hard to sell on Ebay however it brings huge traffic.
There are also other shopping stores which could accept your products for a commision.

is it new clothes you made or new clothes you bought?

Hi!

just start with listing a couple of products using ebay standard listing option.

That helps to get some experience, then after a while and when you know how to market your products, I recommand to switch to an Ebay store.

Some other thing : take you time to read Ebay's guidelines on how to list your items : simple and clear!

Good luck!

I agree, ebay is definitely the best option for you. It seems to me that you are selling a relatively small amount of products. If I am wrong in assuming this and you have many items, I would consider an ebay store versus singular product posting. If you are even larger than that, I would look into creating you own e-commerce site. Start small, learn the ropes, move on from there.

Let us know how you are doing, good luck.

Along with everyone else, I'd also say ebay .. ebay completely saved my graduate fashion collection, had absolutely no money so sold everything I didn't need.. and it eventually funded my entire collection. .. I'm still selling things now even though I finished my degree 3 months ago.. but noticing how much I actually pay ebay for seller fees... then paypal .. although I am still making a profit.. a lot of it goes to the mentioned two... so be wise when selling.

Don't do what I've seen other sellers do, start something at 1p (umm.. 2 cents?), but have 4 photos, which cost around 50p (around $1) .. then, for a strange reason, one person bids, and wins for 1p ..then, the seller has to pay the specified percentage for selling, then if the buyer pays by paypal, paypal takes some of the fee .... to cut it short, no profit made, but money lost.

Don't make an ebay shop if you're just starting out, I personally think its a waste of money and can lose potential customers if the navigation is badly designed. I've been selling for about 9 months now, have lots of regular buyers and still haven't opted for a shop, and don't feel like I need to.

My vote i also to eBay, for a newbie. i have been on eBay for 1 year and i still learn new stuff from eBay until now. For a beginer i recommend normal listing first and when you have have sufficient confidence then you open your eBay store as eBay store helps to increase the reputation and traffic, a the same time minimizes the cost. there are also many other features that will be helpful.

But dont quickly rush into eBay Store, as there is a monthly subscription fee to pay. (which is your investment too)
