i'm 14 years old and i REALLy want to be a fashion designer. but i have no clue how to go about that. Can somebody tell me how you would go into this business. i have no idea how to become a successfull designer. thanks!

soon2bestar theres no exact formula to be a succesful designer but i know i really good skool for fashion design where tom ford and marc jacobs graduated formits called parsons design skool they offer a major in fashion design i hope one day i will attend it too.! because i love fashion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!whoa! anyways i wish u the best of luck in ur career:)

it seems like there's no one traditional route but the ones i've read about either went to design school and got a job a fashion house afterwards or some designers just interned or worked at a fashion house and ended up branching out on their own.

You should start looking for summer internships! it's an early start so you'll learn more and meet more up and coming designers!

I wrote this on the site other day bc i thought it was cool--this new designer, Philip Lim, who I LOVE is doing a blog where you can ask him questions and stuff. he's on janemag.com his stuff is at Barneys, Bergdorfs, and Nordies. Maybe you can post a comment and he'll give you advice?
