Do you like to use hair straighteners? and what about the ceramique ones? I was scared before to use them cuz i thought they had the same damage effect of the fair, but when i used them they are gentle on the hair, i'm using it from a year now but it didnt damage my hair although alot of ppl say its not good cuz still its putting extra heat on my hair..

do you like to use those kind of staighteners? And how often do you use them? each time i wash my hair i have to do at least my bangs by a straighten, my hair is only dried with a towel or a blow dryer..

I use a ceramic straightener but I apply a leave-in conditiner before using the straightener. My hair is really thick and has a lot of volume so the straightener doesn't damage my hair.

Vica-girl, i should use something before using the straightener, just to protect it, but the problem is that my hair is tooo oily and i always try to avoid any hair products, i have to use conditioner when i shower but i try to wash my hair good after applying it and if i did put anything later its gonna look all greasy :s

Oh, but you know there are special products for that type of hair. Everything's available these days. I use John Friedas products and it's heaven to my hair. Looks soo shiny, everyone asks me if I dyed my hair because its so shiny, :P. I'll bet you if you go to the salon they might tell you what products to use.

i'm not sure, alot of ppl recommended alot of products but non seems to suit my hair, and i started to really hate their advices cuz no one knows the real suffering with a soo oily hair like mine unless you got one..!! lol..well the best way is to avoid using anything, hahaha that's what i do..

I have a Solia ceramic flat iron, and it is wonderful! I use a lot of conditioners though, and my hair has no damage! After I shampoo I use a lot of conditioner, then i use a spray-on leave-in conditioner after I towel dry it, then I use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine serum, then I comb it until it's dry. After it's dry I straighten it and apply Dove's Anti Frizz smoothing cream. It's a lot, but I don't even have dandruff!

Here's a before and after image of a girl who used the Solia flat iron(it doesn't look like the same girl but it is!)

Hmph. I don't have dry hair. :? I don't want to get dry hair, that's why I use all of it. My hair is, in truth, smooth. Because I don't blow dry it, which helps a LOT. I just let it air dry then straighten. It makes a huge difference.

i use this:

it's pricey, but i don't have a blow dryer, so i love the wet-to-dry feature. my guy friend loves how it goes "sssst" like an iron on steam. :P

Although I have a relaxer, I still use a ceramique straightener for extra insurance. However, I do have to be careful so that I don't damage my hair.

i have learned that the lower the temperature you use on your hair (while using a hair straighten) the worse it is for you hair. because you are going over the same strands of hair more often with the heat. i was told buying a straighten that goes to a higher temperature the better.
however more expensive..i find my hair is worth it.

i also use Bed Head - After Party before straighten my hair but after blow drying my hair.

If anyone is worried about their hair being damaged...a great way to keep it healthy is going to the salon once every 2 weeks for a deep conditioning treatment. Also getting your hair trimmed regularly helps a lot.

you are right, the hair straightener made my bad hair days become great hair days. but it's not enough to have a straightener, there are a lot of tips to follow, for instance to wash your hair before every use and to use hair straighteners only on dry hair...:D
i got a FREE e book from Sedu Diva (http://www.sedudiva.com) about how to choose the best hairstyle and straightening tips. It's very helpful.

i also use the babyliss brand but not the same model. i got it with the curly, wavy and all. so i can style my hair differently.

My hair doesn't stay straight for more than a few hours though. i have straight hair by nature but it's not completely straight. it's a little bit wavy but not curly. see what i mean?

I straighten my hair the old fashion way. My hair is terribly long and thick, any other way wont cut it for me

Yea...I use the iron.
My hair comes out silky smooth and I've been doing it that way since I could remember!
My hair is naturally curly, or naturally insane! One strand hasnt yet been damaged.
(way to jinx myself!)

I also have a Solia flat iron. It was about a hundred dollars, but WELL WORTH IT! I use it every day on my already straight hair, for touch ups. It works wonders on all hair types though.
Don't be afraid of using heat on your hair. It's not going to damage it if you keep the heat moving (and not on one spot) and use product before you apply heat.
Leave in conditioner works, serum, shine spray. Just don't overdo it, or it will become difficult to style!
Take it from a stylist!

I use a chi flat iron, but I only use it with Moisture block as it's the only thing I've found that completely protects my hair from the heat. I haven't had any split ends since I started using it three months ago. They had free samples
at
www.gotfrizz.com click the sabino link at the top right corner, click the contact button and call or email them.

Info needed when you call:
name, address, request for sabino moisture block, code: crowdgather.com
(code is just where you heard about it.) That's it they send it right out.

I'm trying to find the link to the vid in my other window, if I find it I'll paste it below so you can see how it works. Here it is:

make sure you put code:crowdgather.com and not youtube as youtubers abused privileges according to elle forums, and they're no longer giving them out there. They're only looking to give them out to try to people really wanting to find something to control frizz and/or curls with frizz.

I would recommend Ghd straighteners if you are going to use them, my hairdresser kept using them on my hair and i ended up getting my own pair. They are a bit pricey but they are very good.

I also have oily hair and I avoid using any other products except shampoo because everything makes it greasy. I don't even use conditioner - never! I found a shampoo recently that really helped me - it's a London brand - Charles Worthington and it is for oily roots and dry ends. Its called rebalance. I found it in the ULTA stores, now they don't have it anymore :(. But if you can find it, you may want to try. Otherwise for straighting my hair I use CHI flat iron and only CHI products for heat protection - they don't make your hair greasy, but the opposite - dry and hard. I hope this will help....after all everybody is different.

I was considering buying a hair straightener this summer. I love to take my showers at night and never feel like drying my hair afterwards. This way I can style my hair in the morning, when it is completely dry and I feel like it. My stylist suggests ceramic high end straighteners as it will not dry out and burn your hair. After all, your hair is your most important accessory. Good Luck!

Hair straighteners can turn frizzy hair in to a sleek and smooth style in minutes. If you will be straightening your hair often, I recommend ceramic straighteners. Metal straighteners are a cheaper alternative, but damage easily.

Hair straighteners can turn frizzy hair in to a sleek and smooth style in minutes. Watch this short video to see how the experts at Falltricks Academy use a hair straightener to best effect.Your hair straighteners will need some time to heat up - always follow the manufacturer's instructions. Place them on a non-flammable surface while they are heating.

I use Remington. Designed especially for ladies with thick or curly hair, these straighteners cut out the need for frizz-inducing blow-drying, and dry as they straighten.

It is recommended that between uses you have at least a full day and nights break; this will give your hair the chance to recover. Sometimes this is not possible, if this is the case then it is recommended to use a good conditioner, leave this in your hair for an hour or more once washed to ensure that it penetrates deep into the hair.

Good Luck :)
