From reading the internet on kilts for men it seems they are getting even more popular.
I have been looking at some more non traditional kilts especially by Union Kilts and have been quite struck by there leather range. I must admit I would like to purchase one soon.
I would definately wear it at home and possibly on holidays, other than that I'm not sure.
I don't know how my wife would feel about me wearing a leather kilt which would be important to me, how she feels.
What would your reaction be to a guy wearing a kilt? Do you have one already?
I don't believe you have to be Scottish, and I think a non traditional kilt are prehaps becoming more acceptable, maybe.
Your thoughts please.

I waer my UK out and about town, not all the time, but I do love the freedom of the kilt or skirt . It's about time we have our fashion freedom too, the same freedom that weman have. Men's fashion suck! the same old thing every year, if men and weman have the same rights then it's time for men to be able to wear what they love to wear just as the lady's can, unisex fashions and no I'm not gay.

Being an asian, living in America, if I spot a man on the street, wearing a kilt, I will find it abnormal. However I think it wol dbe perfectly normal for european countries like Scotland.

I was actually in Washington DC not long ago and saw someone wearing one at the Capital Building. I would have to say I have never seen something like that before, but I think it would be okay to wear one. Especially if it is your culture. It wouldn't be the most "in" thing to do, but go for it!

I would say that it's definitely OK to wear a kilt... even more than OK.... fashion is growing and expanding and kilts may be where the industry is headed for men. And I especially think that the leather kilt that you are considering buying is awesome! Leather may be the way to go with kilts! I say go for it!!!!! :D

Yes, I am going to get a kilt soon.
And I think i will wear some underwear, the thought of that equipment hanging loose makes me feel uncomfortable.
Thanks for your views. I think Union Kilts in leather is the one for me.

If you like kilts, buy one. Personally, here in St. Louis, Illinois, I have never seen anyone in a kilt, but this city is way behind on trends. I usually go on weekend trips to places like Chicago to buy new trends, people here don't understand and I have gotten some really strange looks from people.

I am not sure about wearing out. However it would be great to wear on holiday and a evening out. I'm not sure whether my wife would like it.

PORTER IN SKIRT ROW
A CROSS-dressing hospital porter faces the sack because he refuses to stop wearing a skirt.
Gary Starns was suspended after telling bosses he would not work in a trouser suit uniform.
The 39-year-old, a porter at Southend hospital in Essex, said he is more comfortable in a skirt.
Health chiefs claim it is a health and safety risk, but Mr Starns argues that nurses wear them - so he should also be allowed to.
He added: "It's so hypocritical. They shouldn't be so petty." Mr Starns is waiting on a disciplinary hearing to decide his fate.
I responded to this issue by querying the use of the term
"cross-dresser" for a man who wears a skirt when most men wear them -
they might call them something else (such as 'kilt', 'sarong',
'towel' or 'dressing gown') but they wear skirts. This is a clear
case of discrimination on the grounds of gender (unless women in his
position are also banned from wearing skirts) but the problem arises
because we don't challenge the mis-use of the term "cross-dresser."

I've never seen anyone wear a kilt in Denmark, so it's weird for me. But I've heard and seen that a lot of people wear kilts in England and Scotland.

There is nothing wrong in wearing the kilt since its a tradtional wear, ppl who knows about culture would understand if they ever saw a man wearing it, same goes to other cultures, i think it looks good as long as you choose a good one..

you know, i grew up with a bunch of punk kids, and it was common for the boys
to wear a kilt along with a ripped-up band t-shirt, or a plain t-shirt and tie.
And wearing a kilt is not cross-dressing, unless you are female. Guys everywhere
also wear kilts on saint patricks day.

Definitely! I think guys look great in kilts. Well if they've got nice legs and they're good looking anyway.
I saw a program a while back... it was called ladette to lady or something like that and there were guys on there wearing kilts and all the garb and they looked so nice.
The guys in this country all dress the same apart from the goths. They all have shaved off hair and football tees and that. It's nice to see someone dressed up and especially if they're smart and more individual looking.
Dress like you want and don't give a crap!

That looks well cool Peter. I don't think I could pull it off. Although I would like to wear a kilt to a wedding or my wedding if I ever get wed. Then again I'm not Scottish so I would be doing it because it looks cool rather than for historic reasons.

I wear short boots with woolen socks. When I'm at home I just wear socks.
Also men have worn kilts/gladiator skirts since the year dot. In Scotland its part of the national costume, be it a leather kilt that I have which is a bit different.
May I add a note that I am happily married.
Men in Kilts is more normal than one would believe.

Kilts arent the same as skirts, silly folk. They are very heavy duty garments. I'm Scottish and i love a man in a kilt! You have to make sure the length is right, kneel on the floor and it should be just about touching the floor. Girls traditionally don't wear kilts as national dress, either.
I have to say, i'm not a huge fan of the leather/army pattern kilts and what not, but to each his own. I quite like the plain black ones though, they're quite sexy. And the green/blue hunting tartans are my favourite.

Got you Richard. For the leather kilt from Union less than £300 a belt and T shirt was thrown in as well.
As for the sporran, the leather kilt has so many pockets that it does'nt really need one. However they are pretty cool. Maybe I will especially if I get a cloth kilt.

I understand what you mean by the pockets but I love them actually.
I have a leather look kilt, {PVC} which I got from ebay for £20 it has no pockets and hangs nicely. This was the first kilt I got to see if I wanted to spend £300 or so on quality leather one.

Quite varied opinions on guys wearing kilts.
I personally like wearing one, its certainly different. Although I have'nt worn it out, lack of confidence.
Well maybe if I go to Scotland I will wear it, but maybe in a traditional cloth not the leather which may give the impression of a particular sexual orientation. But I love wearing one.
My wife is not that keen at all, but she is not that adventurous.

The US is quite modern for its age, and maybe thats why the US would not accept kilts as day to day wear.
Everyone has an opinion, great, but lets not be so tunnel visioned. The world other than the US has a long, very long history of fashion and soldiers wore kilts. Big hunky Roman Gladiators.
The kilt has been Scotlands traditional national costume for years.
Skirts are not just a woman ONLY thing, far from it. Read your history books or are they not available in the US of A, eh.
I am a hetrosexual guy, English who likes wearing a mans kilt. And the Scottish look great in them too.
They certainly are not a womens thing at all.
My opinion, fact and historically true.
Amen.....
