ROBERTO CAVALLI was sentenced to 14 months in prison yesterday after a Florence court found him guilty of tax evasion. However, a technicality in Italian law means he is unlikely to spend any time in jail. The designer was originally accused in 2002 when it was found that he had put a £1.8 million refurbishment of his home through his company as expenses. Having always argued that his luxurious villa serves as the headquarters for his international label, the Italian designer will now appeal. "As [much as] it is possible to read the grounds for this entirely unjustified ruling, [Cavalli's lawyers] will launch an immediate challenge," said a statement yesterday from the designer, who was not in court for the verdict. "The defence counsels are firmly convinced that the crime assumed on the part of the public prosecutor… [is] utterly groundless and that in the appeal procedure, Mr Cavalli will, therefore, be acquitted in the fullest terms." His newer sunglasses range is great, the ones with the metalwork and coiled serpent designs on the arms? They're beautiful.

i see no big deal in this even if he goes to jail he has the money to get bailed out and if he cant get bailed out we'll only miss a few seasons and he'll probably make a comeback

i can never understand the tax thing, we dont have taxes here in my country and i guess this is good, but who knows it might change in the future when some conditions change..

btw alot of europeans and americans come to work in the gulf and they always say that the first reason they come here is cuz we dont have taxes haha..i donno if they say the truth but i guess its a good reason to come..:D

This is wonderful news for us cheapos! The price of his clothing, ect. will hopefully drop significantly. It will be Jacob and Co. all over again!!!
Besides, Cavalli's nice but if you aren't crazy about animal print, which is in this season, then I wouldn't worry too much about his absence.

Cavalli to me is not major loss....in fact it might be good for him since it could drive up the price on some his items.
