I have never had hair extensions but I did have my hair microbraided a few years ago. It took 6 hours and I kept it in for about a month. The mistake I made is that I washed it daily, which is too often, but I felt dirty if I didn't wash my hair. My hair broke off and it was horrible. I will never do that again.

well i dont really know much about hair exentions and i never saw any of friends doing but i've seen an african american woman one day in the salon and she had hair extention, i guess she wanted to cut her hair or something, but i think the one she made was bag cuz there was "something" about her hair that shows that its not for real, some of the salons do it really good and it feels real..be sure that those little ties in the root of ur hair doesnt show that much..plus i guess you'll have dificulty in combing your hair..

Hair Extensions Can Be Good And Bad But It All Depends On Where You Get It Done... U Want The Weave To Look As Natural As Possible At All Times... You Dont Want A Week To Pass By And It Start To Look Like Wet Puppy-back Lolol.

Make Sure U See The Stylists Work Before You Consider Getting Extensions. I Wear Them At Times Just Because My Hair Is Bushy Curly (like Kelis When She First Hit The Scene) And There Are Times When I Don't Feel Like Being Bothered....

Just Some Advice Ladies.

Dependin On How U R Havin Them.

R u Havin Them Weaved In? Glued In? Or There Are Now Available 4 Clip Ins, Which R Really Good As U Can Take Them In And Out As Much As U Please :)

Back In April, I Bought Sum Hair And Hair Glue From Manchester, And They Seemed Amazin Nobody Could Tell The Difference Between My Hair.. After 3 Weeks... My Hair Seemed To Go All Tacky And I Cudnt Brush o Wash My Hair Properly So I Decided To Take Them Out..

Unaware To Me That All MY Hair Would Come Out Too.. So I Have Now Really Short Hair As It Gave Me Bold Patches And Alsorts

I Personally Have Heard More Bad Things Than Good About Them.. So If U Really Fancy Havin Them Then Go For It :D

One thing before getting them..DONT USE THE GLUE, i used the glue twice, after sitting in the bath for 3hours taking them out i still had to pick out the glue after for an hour!!

2nd time round i used another glue, exactly the same happened.

3rd time i brought the clips, so muich better and whenever i wanna wash my hair its soooo much better.

I advise the clips.

The reason why you had bald patches is because you never took them out properly, you suppose to use conditioner and they slide out, my hair was still the same before i had extensions.

A friend of mine had extensions and hers looked really weird. Like someone braided the extensions on her real hair and u could see it....weird. But then there was this other girl that had it done and hers looked genuine and beautiful. I guess it depends on where you have it done. But from my friends experience don't get it done at an african salon because they were the ones who did her extensions badly.

Here's a hair extension (http://www.donnabellahair.com/wordpress) site with a blog that will have tips and tricks for hair extensions...and things to look out for when having them put in, and choosing a salon. Rumor has it they'll be posting videos as well...and their salon supply section will be open to the public :)

the best ones now that all the stars are using is just little clip ones. theyre pain free and you can put them in or take them out whenever you want. they dont look fake if you put them just enough under the first few layers of hair and its actual human hair. theyre not too expensive either so thats even better. jessica simpson has a line of hair extentions out too that are this same type of style (good snap/clip on ones)

everyone's getting extensions, and they look so fake.
ive seen dark brown hair with blonde, curled extensions: it's not a good look.
if you really want them, make sure they look natural.

and also, can you please type legibly?

one things for sure. unbrushed. extensions look shitty. i've seen girls walking around with unbrushed extensions. totally tangled but for some reason they still wear them.

Hey!!

well i have clip in hair extensions and i love love love them!!
Its money well spent, the hair extensions i got are "HairDo by jessica simpson and Ken paves" synthetic hair never look so real!! Im so happy i got them not only does it make my hair long it gives it volume and also it does not look fake or too shiny. All i have to say is DO NOT order your hair extensions over the net , cuz you can never match your hair exactly to it. I recommend going to a hair salon and getting a consultations with one of the hair dressers, they will try different kinds of extensions and match them to your hair color, and you can get them cut and colored if you get the real hair. theres different kinds of extensions "2 piece sets" "1 piece (jessica simpson)" or " 10 piece sets" i reccommend 1 piece or 2 piece becuse they are easy to put in instead of 10 individual pieces! anyways any questions just ask!:p but theres also the real hair extensions that are woven to your roots, but i say clip in ones are the best!

I've had hair extensions before. I did them myself and glued them in. I highly recommend you do NOT glue them. I lost so, so much hair when i took them out. And also, it's a pain to wash your hair. They have ones with clips if you plan on doing them yourself, it would be best to get those.

My extensions looked amazing. It's not that hard to do them and do them right.

All interesting advice about weaves...but step back and let the master give you some advice. The beauty of extensions is that you don't have to do your own hair anymore. That means no daily washing, blow drying, straightening, curling, chemicals, etc. You pick the color, texture, style, length you want and sew it in. And then that's it, you're done. Leave it in for two months or so, occasional maintenance. When done correctly, a weave can be your best friend, done incorrectly...you're worst enemy.
I hope some of what I said was useful.

I use the clip in extensions. I have them in almost every colour and they're fantastic. you can mix and match as you choose, and they really are a good investment, especially if you're like me and don't have the patience to grow it, and can't decide between short or long! But i'm looking for some longer ones, any ideas? the ones i've got aren't that long, i want some really super long ones!! but i can't seem to find some that won't cost me an arm and a leg. real human hair if possible :D
