Tempted but i like phpbb for its mod-ability, support and its easy to design around.

Don't sweat it, the hacks and mad are available, support is also ample and so are design option. phpbb is great but it is easily hacked and open to security holes and as a forum grows its grows sluggish.

Yea i agree in part about the growing of the forum but some phpbb forums have well over 50,000 members and come on it looks great lol :)

That's actually not true. If the forum is up to date you're fine.
The current version has no known security exploits (and hasn't for some time). The vast vast majority of hacked forums are very out of date. As with all types of forum software, if you don't keep up with security fixes you're vulnerable. VB included.

There are many phpBB forums with tens of thousands of members and they run just fine. The speed is often down to the server, not the software.

I'm in the software business, trust me there's nothing wrong with being a late adopter especially in a forum capacity. To many thing can wrong to easily...
