DEAR JOHN...

THE DATSUNS are trying to entice LED ZEPPELIN bassist JOHN PAUL JONES to record with them.

As previously reported the Led Zeppelin legend is currently producing the band's album in Jacobs Studios in Surrey.

The band have now recorded 14 tracks for the album, with working titles including 'Messin' Around', 'What I've Lost' and 'Feelin' Alright'.

"We're hoping to coax him to actually get into the studio and play something . . . anything," said drummer Matt Datsun to Rolling Stone. "We'll see what happens."

"The great thing about him (Jones) is he'll make a few suggestions here and there, but he won't tell you what to do," added Matt. "But if we get stuck, he'll come up with something good."

The band's second album is expected later in the year.
