He did the song New York Christmas. He did it by himself, not released under the bands name. He did it primarily as a song to help fund a childrens hospital I believe in Valhaula (sp?) New York. I got to see him on TV one morning last year singing it. it's magnificent.

Jimi hendrix wasn't a solo artist [jimi hendrix experience with mitch mitchell and noel redding].Jon Bon Jovi????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's my own choices.
1.]Lou Reed.[ rock n roll animal]
2.]John Cale.[welsh wizard in the velvet underground
3.]David Bowie.[saw him at the iow festival fuckin incredible]
4.]Paul Weller.[down to earth genius]
5.]Syd Barret.[ just bloody insane]
Who the fuck're these guys i bet some of you are askin. But trust i'm only 15 so if i like em give em a try ur self. Alot of you peeps'll know bowie, reed and maybe paul weller.

Hendrix wasnt officially a solo artist but lets face it, he was his group, why do u think it was called the Hendrix experience??hes definantly in the top 5, and JOn Bon JOvi's 'Destination Anywhere' album was amazing' but he doesnt match some of the others. as for syd barret, he was crazy and many prais him but i think hes somewhat over rated, it was only after his death that pink floyd started producing revolutionary music. Ozzy has to be included, only he could leave such a great band and manage to overshadow them. anyway heres my top 5:
Jimi Hendrix
Janis Joplin
David Bowie
Ozzy
Lou Reed
Bob Dylan(just have to add him, he really made a difference back in his day)

Your list is pretty cool, Lou Reed is stunning in my opinion, I really wanted to go see him at the Royal Festival Hall in London the year before last, a once off acoustic show, would have been stunning and I just love the Festival Hall but I couldn’t find anyone to go with to it…shame really I heard it was a stunning night.
Bowie, obviously, he’s the man, quite freaky but so cool. Ozzy I’m not that into and Hendrix was/is overrated but still did a lot to kick off certain aspects of music that we know today so I guess he has to be down.

JBJ isnt a great solo artist. vocally i think his solo stuff does more justice but he isnt so much more of a decent performer live, he plays guitar more solo so he has to concentrate on that instead of bouncing around the stage

I mean to say especially Undiscover soul. especailly songs like 'Down side of love', 'Harlem rain', 'Chained' and ofcourse 'Undiscovered Soul'. And these are my fave songs from the album mind u. Yeah probably there are more deperssing songs out there, but this one is always touch my heart. And also somesongs in Destination Anywhere also have these feelings in that and probably these two i like to hear most when i feeling sort of down.

yeah i see what you mean and certainly 'lyrically' they're depressing, i think much of DA is lyrically low/depressing but it isnt all sung that way.
i mean 'August 7, 4:15' dedicated to the memory of a young girl Jon knew and whos farther work(ed) with the band, now thats sad. lyrically it gives yhou the story, what happend, feelings that were going on and thats a 'down' track but musically its too up beat, the multi-vocal chrous parts, its too full on where as a dude sitting on a stool with his acoustic 6 string banging out music from the soul is a lot more intresting and has tons more feeling to it, i guess like richie's stuff but i dunno..

i think that richie has more talent, natural talent, than jon will ever have. its like he works and jon shows off lmao not that much haha

08-03-2004, 01:13 PM
i think jon bon jovi and sambora are just about as talented as each other. 'queen of new orleans' is absolute gold, i cant get enough of it, as for the rest of the DA album, i would agree that lyrically its a 'sad' album

i agree, jon is just the entertainment for the people that dont care for the music. [saying that i guess as many women fancy richie..]
even so richie can play guitar better, sing alot better and i guess they both write stunning lyrics in each others company and alone so they break even on that

Well that is just matter of opnion on both of urs, i never liked entertainment that much and thats why i like more KTF and TD era then Slippery or New Jeresy. And although i love Riche's both album and real thing Undescover soul is ace album. But its always been Destination anywhere and Blaze of glory which never stop amusing me. I don't take any song out of both of these albums and think no one would have done so different a album like he did with DA. Most of the songs are so so differnt from typical BJ album, so if he had no talent then he would have just stick to basic bj style. Well Jon got as much talent as Richie if not more and also showman ship, which is added bonus for him and also for the band in huge way.
