Aphex Twin

I know some of you have heard of Aphex Twin. What do you think of him?

Very cutting. Love the music videos. Love Windowlicker. So, all in all, I would sum up (Richard James?can't remeber his name....) to have an odd tune that you relate to and enjoy. For the most part, a lot of his music can be a little too much.

There are certain moments such as "CockVer10" followed by "Avril 14th", but overall I can't get into him or this type of music.

i've only heard a couple songs, like windowlicker, rubber johnny and the yummy souls one. someone told me to watch the music videos, and yeh, they're pretty goddamn impressive.

the music is meh. it's good, but as electronica goes, it isn't really that remarkable. it's too basic and bleepy, i find.

it has a hard, cutting sound, yes, but it's just too minimalistic.

aphex twin is good, but its nothing spectacular. as far as electronica goes, its fun to listen to, nice and relaxing, but ive only heard a couple, windowlicker, maximum electronica, etc. However, they do have a nice breathe remix with prodigy that is worth listening to

The twin is safe as fuck, saw him live last year in glasgow doing a tight acid set and well, it was possibly the best performance i've ever seen.

Its a rarity for the guy to come out and play, and i'll just say that what most people have heard IS NOT Aphex Twin. He isn't Windowlicker and Come to daddy, he excels with what he started on - acid.

You really need to listen to his entire catalogue to get a feel for the sound, most of it isn't chill at all - its pioneering acid and idm, he basically invented a genre.

Reading this thread made me cringe. Aphex Twin is one of the original pioneers of electronic music and is still one of the very best out there. If you don't agree with this you simply aren't listening. Go buy yourself some taste then report back.

And it irritates me that people refer to Aphex Twin as "them"....its one person, Richard D. James...and don't judge him for his mainsteam realeases ( WindowLicker, Come To Daddy ) as they are excellent tracks but it gets a lot deeper with this guy.
