That's right! Brand New will be releasing "Fight Off Your Demons" on November 21st, 2006! That's only about 2 months away! GET EXCITED!

I've actually hear the 'Fight Off Your Demos' that got leaked onto limewire or whatever, and they're actually WAY better than Deja Entendu. It should be one heck of an album, if the album goes the direction of the demos. I hope they don't go all TBS and just completely go pop. But I doubt they will.

Anyone else excited for this?

If it's anything like Deja Entendu, or better as you say, then I'm excited

the demos are amazing. horrid quality. they sounded like someone had set up a tape player in the middle of the room but they blew me away. this is actually the first album i'm excited about coming out this year

it has been a really slow release year.

and by slow, I mean REAL slow.

I thought this year was good for music.

Anyway, I've heard bits and pieces of Brand New. I guess I'll check this new album out since it seems to be better than their older stuff.

@ the top of my head:

BoySetsFire: The Misery Index: notes from the plague years
The Early November: The Mother, The Mechanic, and The Path
Muse: Black Holes and Revelations
Rise Against: The Sufferer and The Witness
RHCP: Stadium Arcadium
Head Automatica: Popaganda (Pales in comparison to their first but >.>)
Cellador: Enter Deception
Thursday: A City By The Light Divided
All That Remains: The Fall of Ideals

There's some more too and then there's others that will probably be really good, but are yet to come out like "Thornography" from CoF and whatever the new Killers album is called.

ok, i can see that. funny that the albums that you say have made it a great year are the albums that i see as making it weak, specificly Rise Against, Thursday and the EArly November. but to each his own.

Though i must ask, why Muse? i find their stuff almost intolerable.

I can easily understand why you wouldn't like most of those, but with Muse, they tried something somewhat different and it's worked out well. At first I disliked the album, but it quickly grew on me after a few days.

I don't think its better. But I also hated De Ja when I heard it the first few times, then it really grew on me.

Haha alright I am defeated. Back on topic: I'm listening to the demos now and I like it from what I hear, I'm really liking the poor recordings too, it really compliments some of the songs in my opinion. It's a nice raw feeling.

Ha I havent heard that in a while.

I'll definitely agree with you, but that's what I've noticed between their other albums too... I don't like Your Favorite Weapon (maybe I havent listened to it enough), but Deja Entendu is amazing.. if anything the demos reminds more of that album, so of course I'm going to like it.

I think that btoh YFW and De Ja are masterpieces if you will, in their own way. I don't really see anything that stands out on the demos. Maybe I'm missing it.

I've been waiting for this for a while now. I'm actually listening to the demos for the 30845543th time right now. I'm still wondering about the date though, they've changed it a lot.

I like the fact that Brand New changes every album- makes me imagine that there are still artists in the world who aren't looking for a buck but genuinely like making music.

And as for this being a good year in music, I haven't seriously considered buying any release of this year. I think the Format came out with a new one that I haven't had time to check out....maybe that was good.

But other than that, 2005 wasted everyone, and now we have to wait a year for them to write some more stuff.

It's more a combination of the two. It's more organized like the last but has the same feel as the first. All you really need to hear is the first song(drunks, lovers, sinners, and saints) and the whole album only gets better.

I haven't heard it yet.....although with these next two weeks coming up, I have a whole lot of nothing to do. I think I'm going to read "On the Road" and listen to this album. Excited? You bet.

i am really not impressed with the new album. it's good in the way that most music is good, but it isn't actually good. there's no quality or substance. it's just quiet-loud, generic crapola.

deja was great because, you know, it's a fucking amazing album. the lyrics are awesome, the music is good, the vocal stylings are good, etc, but then they weren't being emo. they were emo, i know, but they weren't going around calling themselves such.

at least they were trying to do something somewhat original. this new album is kind of generic.

I am why

Well each album is bound to have a different sound as each one is written by a different member of the band.

IndependentClauses
01-22-2007, 11:23 PM
...really

I hadn't heard that.

I also haven't tried to pick apart the liner notes on "The Devil and God..." yet.

That would make a bizarre sort of sense, though....although I'm sure Jesse Lacey had a hand in all of the songwriting somehow, even if he didn't come up with the main ideas.

Deja is AMAZING

I think that The Devil and God is a very close second to Deja. But nothing can top that.

IndependentClauses

Yeah, unless they pull a rabbit out of their hat on the fourth album and prove staying power, Deja will be the high point of their career.

The Devil is God is a lot more musically sound and interesting. I couldn't listen to Deja straight through... the Devil and God i can listen straight through.

"Jesus" is spectacular
