Well, being a newly appointed moderator of the Acoustic forum, I thought I'd share some of my favorite acoustic music and try to shed some light on a few pieces of amazing music that you may have not had a chance to enjoy :)
John Mayer - Mayer's music is amazingly soothing to me, and I love his lead guitar in all of his music. He combines complicated power chords with multiple solo riffs to bring it all in together.
My Favorites:
Daughters
Neon
Comfortable
Love Song for No One
Garth Brooks - I KNOW that a majority of people on the internet seem to love bashing country music. Get over it, some of Brooks' music is filled with EXTREMELY (I know, I play most of it) difficult picking patterns, slides, and bends that seem near impossible.
My Favorites:
Wrapped Up In You
The Dance
The Thunder Rolls
If Tomorrow Never Comes
Two Pina Coladas
Check out all of that, and by the time you have finished listening to all of it I'll have another list of can't-miss music :)
Thanks, I'll definitely be checking out the John Mayer songs you recommended, I've been meaning to give him a listen.. and as for the Garth Brooks... well I'll give that a listen too :p
I was brought up on country, and I have respect for a lot of it, but there are just certain songs that irritate me, but that goes for any musical genre

I love Garth Brooks. If that makes me a hick/redneck/homo/etc. then buy me a donkey with big tires and a rainbow handkerchief :)
I always carry some Garth with me, just in case the oppurtunity pops up that I'll be dancing in a field somewhere with the sweetheart.

Neon is definitely a good song. Have you ever tried to play it? He tunes his guitar to drop C, and the rest of the strings are in standard. So it ends up being CADGBE, and he uses his thumb to fret some notes on the 6th string.
Its a really difficult song to play while trying to sing it.

John Mayer is a pretty talented guitarist. His voice drives me nuts, but I will admit that he can play a solo when he wants to and his songwriting skills are pretty tight.
I can't take Garth Brooks seriously.....I just can't. Too much time living in Oklahoma.

I like Mayer's voice for some reason. Almost raspy at times, but it goes well with the songs he writes.

Haha..yeah it really didn't help me out when the whole Kenzie ordeal went through. Split Screen Sadness is really a lot of keyboard and techno sound to me...didn't deem it as his best acoustic work ;)

I like sad music though....
I once had a joke with my best friend that if didn't make me dance or cry it wasn't worth it.
My tastes have expanded since then, but the principle stands.
