Now I don't really know what to classify Gorillaz as, but seeing as many of there songs include hip-hop elements I'm putting it here. My question is basically "What do you think of this band?"

Personally, I can admit I got really into them with there new cd "Demon Days". My friend got it for me and I couldn't stop listening to it for over 3 months. The music on that cd was just so well done and included so many different genres of music, so for me it was impossible to get bored of it. There was not a song on that cd I didn't love, I almost never skipped a song.

After my Demon Days craze, I bought the older cds "Gorillaz" and "G-sides", which were fairly well done, but had some flawed songs. They were definitely not played as much as Demon Days was, but they were still done well.

My favourite songs have to be (from Demon Days) "Dirty Harry" (The Chopper remix of dirty harry is also really good) "El Manana" (Which is coming out as a 4th single for Demon Days), "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead" (Great song with some amazing keyboard/piano solos) and "Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head" (Not a sung song, but it more tells a story with some great musical acompaniment).

From Gorillaz I loved "Sound Check", "Double Bass", "19-2000" and "Left Hand Suzuki Method". Finally, from G-sides I loved "Faust", "Ghost Train" and "19-2000 (Soulchild Remix)".

Gorillaz was basically started by Damon Albarn who was formally (and still is I think), in a band called Blur. He started it up with a guy named Jamie Hewlett who did all the animations for Gorillaz. Damon provided the music while Jamie did all of the drawings and such, and Gorillaz was born. I personally think it's a brilliant idea to create an animated band. They can basically do anything they want with this band, and have a fun time doing it.

Anyways, sorry for the long post, I could probably talk forever about Gorillaz. So what do you guys (and girls of course) think of the Gorillaz? Hate? Love?

most definently love, their music is simply just so unique. I too love Demon Days, but my favorite older song would have to be Clint Eastwood

Yeah I love Clint Eastwood.
I think that the Gorillaz show from a music perspective how good Damon Alburn really is. There was always the big compare between him and the Gallaghers (Oasis) during the 90's, but after forming The Gorillaz, Alburn has shown that he has a large range of musical talent!
My two favourite songs from Demon Days are Dare (featuring Happy Mondays Shaun Ryder) and Feel Good inc (featuring De La Soul.) I love how they feature so many different people on their albums, it brings a lot more depth to their music!

Did you know that Jamie Hewlett also created and animated Tank Girl?

Haha, yep. I heard the comics were fantastic but the movie sucked really bad. I should check em out some time.

Albarn got all the hip-hop influence from the DJ in the band named Dan the Automator (*insert japanese last name here*).

I really enjoy their radio singles from Demon Days- they are a refreshing difference from the rest of the radio.

I've heard gorillaz, and I was quite impressed. Demon Days is about groove, and Gorillaz is all about the fun and poppiness of it all, which is why DD seems more cohesive than the first.

I like 'em.

Agreed, especially while driving, heh.

There music is just good to grove with, most of it is very catchy and can get stuck in your head fast.

It seemed to me that there was more rap in their first album, but I liked them both :)

How do they perform in concert? Is it just a big screen with cartoons? Or actual people?

They do both. They had a thing before where is was the actual musicians performing on a live stage but there faces didn't show (they were kind of behind a backdrop type thing). But I know they've also done some shows with imagery (eg. 3D images) and they plan on doing a world tour that way. The only reason that kind of sucks is that its pre-recorded music, so its not the live music experience you'd usually see. But its still a unique idea, and I would love to see them still.

I like the idea of them playing behind the backdrop and then having 3D figures moving around. That would be a cool concert.

I just bought the Gorillaz "Live at the Manchester Opera House" DVD, and I can definitely recommend it. The show itself is amazing, the camera angles are perfect for all songs and it was really well done. The only problem is that there are hardly any extras (eg. Interviews, music videos, behind the scenes, etc) which is a big downer, but still, I am a big enough fan of Gorillaz to still quite enjoy this DVD. It was only 20 bucks Canadian, so pick it up if your interested.

Sounds like a nice DVD - I'm not surprised there arent any extras considering the band makes themself so mysterious, but I would have expected some cartoons or something

When you say precorded, is it just like a screen that drops down then someone who puts in a Gorillaz cd and presses play? If so that really sucks...If I wanted to see that I just stay home watch TV and play my Gorillaz cd, save 85 bucks right there.

I always thought that they preformed behind the screen, and I'm pretty sure they do... hmm

Damon Albarn and Dan the Automator are the two main minds behind the band. There's also a girl who does all the art, but I can't remember her name.

Albarn plays with a full band, but from what I've heard, there's not very many big names in it.

A guy named Jamie Hewlett actually makes all the sketches and drawings of the Gorillaz characters (along with plenty of other artists). He's made some pretty popular comics/characters, one of them being a character named tank girl (made into a lame movie, but apparently the comics are great).
