View Full Version : What are 'emos' trying to accomplish?
Why do you have to wear black, thick-rimmed glasses and studded bracelets?
Is there a reason why you try to be so different? Are you looking for attention, trying to fit in or just bored as hell?
Peolpe who crave attention ( like most of these emo characters ) really get me going. Damn you.

You could ask a fan of rap why they dress the way they do. Everyone has perks that set them off. I like wearing my emo clothing because that is how I feel represents me the most. If were a hip-hop fan I might wear more baggy clothes and wear lots of "bling".

I don't know why people dress in styles at all. I wear jeans and a t-shirt and have never had the urge to wear something to "define" myself. Maybe I'm just not a depressed teen or whatever. Even if I was depressed, I doubt I'd show it through a clothing style. Whatever, it's just a phase, and it doesn't affect me directly, so I don't care that much.

Kids dress in styles because it associates them with a group. People can tell who you are by what you wear, which makes it easy for people who hate that type of person to steer clear, while it will attract people of that certain style. It's all about fitting in.
if you want to befriend emo kids, dress emo.
if you want to befriend goths, dress goth.
if you want to befriend preps, dress preppy.
etc, etc, all the way down to all the genres.
and kids say that their style of dress is unique because it's outside the norm. They don't necessarily mean that they themselves are unique- they mean that they are unique in the fact that they're part of a whole group that's unique.
I dress- I don't get in scenes. But that's why people dress the way they do.

I dont know why you started this thread, this is stupid. Why do you care so much about how other people dress? Does it really affect your life that much? Maybe you are just mad at them because you are to afraid to be different. Instead of worrying about how others live their lives you should probably worry about your own first. Besides this has nothing to do with music. This forum should be about the music, not why "emo" kids where girls pants.

I dont know why you started this thread.
ooo! ooo! I do! I do!
Basically, it's because emo has been so watered down and sucks so much now that's it not even worth talking about the music.
Due to the recent suckage of emo music, most "emo kids" have become more concerned with fashion than the actual music. Thus, fashion has become intriniscally linked with the word emo.
Now, instead of thinking Indian Summer when someone says emo, people think black eyeliner and dyed black hair. People don't think about emo music when they say the word emo, they think of fashion.
That's why this topic got started- cause some kid saw the word emo and thought fashion and decided to bash it.

How can you say that he's dressing like an idiot? If people feel the need to express themselves with black clothing and shit like that, so be it. It's the same with tattoos and body piercings.
Oh and what exactly is normal? Can you define it?
It may be normal to the emo kids but it's not normal to you, so being the close minded person you are, you bash it. Stereotyping makes shit easier, but when you stereotype in a way that is negative to every person that looks that way, YOU look like the idiot.

QFT, if you don't like something that fine by me. But when you bash the hell out of it, I tend to get mad and lose my cool.

That was the question, there is the answer. everything else in this topic is frivolous bashing, and I will not be involved in it.
case closed.

I personally think dressing up as emo or goth or whatever shows weakness and insecurity. Why do you need to dress up as something in order to fit in? Or maybe I'm fitting into normality by wearing a tshirt and jeans? I don't know.
All I'm saying is that these people are just making fools of themselves. No one gives a god damn if they want to slit their wrists, everyone goes through the same shit they do.

Who gives you the right judge them, and not other people? To me it looks like you are making a fool of yourself. It's a lifestyle if they want to slit their wrists. More power to them!

It's perfectly fine for people to argue pointlessly if they want- I just won't get involved.
