Anybody here a cursive fan?
I've actually not heard much from them, but I think that their vocalist is pretty sweet- Tim Kasher does a really good job fronting "The Good Life", so I assume he would do just as well fronting Cursive.
eh?

Cursive.. I have the discography (and I believe all of their stuff is legit) so if you're interested in some samples I'm pretty sure I could hook you up.
As for the actual band -- I like them a lot. Their older stuff can sometimes take some getting used to, but overall they have a good sound. The new(est) CD, The Ugly Organ, has a cello in it; I think they incorporated it in very well. However, they recently kicked the cellist out for reasons unknown.
Do you know what songs you've heard so I could give you an idea of what to get/download/buy?

...um, yeah. I've heard:
nothing.
so that should clear that problem up nicely. I'm a fan of both hard stuff and melodic stuff, but in a pinch I'd take the more melodic stuff (if that helps any).
I'd love to get some samples....how can we get this going? PM me or email me at independentclauses@hotmail.com . Thanks!

Sorry to bring up an oldish thread, but have you tried their MySpace IndependentClauses? http://www.myspace.com/cursive - it doesn't have many songs granted, but it should give you a taste. The best song on their profile in my opinion is Driftwood: A Fairy Tale.
I absolutely love Cursive's The Ugly Organ album, best album they've done.

Im not really a fan of the good life, but i enjoy cursive. They're one of the few acts on saddle creek that i follow.

cursive is pretty awesome, but they are not fucking emo.
the ugly organ is ++, as is happy hollow, after a couple listens. i didn't really like it the first time around, but i was urged to listen a bit more, and whammo! thank the maker for that, because i quickly realized how awesome it was.

My brother turned me on to cursive. Pretty alright stuff if you ask me. I don't know if I could ever see them live though. Just seems like I might be bored at the show...dunno.

are you insane.
they are not emo. they're rock, almost hardcore. they're fucking alternative. they are so far from emo i'm going to go cry in a dark room and cut myself because the cursive thread is in the emo forum.

I always thought they were kinda borderline emo. I mean, seriously, listen to Domestica. Now try and tell me that isn't even a little emo. Kasher WAS going through a divorce when he wrote this album....
As for most of the Cursive albums, it seems like all of them drag a little in the last half. Maybe it's just my imagination.

I'm not talking Taking Back Sunday emo....
I'm talking Fugazi emo. Back when emo was respectable, and something to be admired, even.
So if you think I'm lumping them in with Thrice, TBS, and Underoath, I'm not. That's not at all what I mean.

cursive is not emo okay, under any definition, negative or positive.

i disagree with you on that, rather strongly.
especially because you called them almost hardcore.
and i doubt you've heard any real hardcore or you would have never in a million years made that comparison.

cursive is NOT emo.
cursive is POST-HARDCORE and indie.
