View Full Version : Where do you get your techno?
Ok... I am just curious, because around here, no stores sell techno. Its your choice of rap, rock, or country, and that gets kinda boring. So, wehre does everyone here get their toons? I usually end of downloading it, or ripping it from the web onto my mp3 player. What about you dudes?

Either download it or buy it online. The best way to get it is through the online stores whenever you can find one. They usually stock a shitload of great artists.

depends on what you're after, really - if i find a tune i want to buy, i do a google search.
no, seriously.
also, i like to go to www.deeprhythms.com for the free downloadable mixes - some of them are really quite good, if you're into your deep house.

Now that you're getting into the free stuff, I don't know why, but there are so many gabber songs online that you can just download for free. It's just something about the genre, I guess. I can't really put my finger on it.

i think it's because the returns on releasing a tune are so slim that most people would rather just have someone hear their music than think about making it a DRM crippled piece of cr@p that you have to pay for.
there're some great sites out there.
That link you supplied was awesome. Although you spelled it wrong, I downloaded some free mixed, and I am addicted now.

I get most of mine from school - through the network via OURTUNES. It is really really nifty, can get so much music so fast! I normally only listen to techno while working out, it is really great for that. The big prblem I have is sorting through all of the crap that is published - and finding the good stuff that is so far and in between.

Too bad it's by invite only. Anyone that has invites and is willing to give me one please feel free. As far as the question goes, I usually get my trance at various torrents sites, and soulseek.

techno has two meanings -- it's funny -- for europeans they mean
stuff with no vocals, really underground "hard" stuff -- for
americans, when they say "techno", often they mean what in europe is
called "dance". And "dance" in europe is a lot more mainstream and
pop-oriented
for "american" style techno (i.e. european "dance"), the best example
I've found is this (itunes link):
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/advancedSearchResults?albumTerm=Euro+Club+Hits+Vol +
strangely it's called "euro club hits" ... which makes things even
more confusing ;
for "european" style techno... i.e. the stuff with no songs, I
recommend going to www.beatport.com and checking out the stuff in the
"techno" section
