I havent been listening to techno or trance that long but recently I have really got into Paul Oakenfold.

When I put one of his CD's in I instantly relax and everything is cool, its almost like a drug :P

If anyone knows any similar techno people please let me know, I'd really like broaden myself in the techno category, seeing as I'm very new to it

A couple of questions before I recommend you some...
Do you by any chance have his Gate Crashers CD?
Does it have people talking? Or just the beats and rhythms and such?

Man, I've got a bunch of techno and trance, yet I always had the tendancies to just turn my back to Mr. Oakenfold. Just something about him I never liked. I'm more into the harder stuff, like DJ Nosferatu or DJ Endymion.

I like Oakenfold- don't have any albums but if asked, I would count myself as a fan. He does good work for soundtracks and such. I like the Chemical Brothers- they're sort've like Oakenfold, in my opinion. Anybody else think so?

Actually, The Chemical Brothers started out playing a very similar style to Oakenfold called Balearic... after their shows picked up they started introducing their own mix of it with hip-hop influences and created a new style, forget what its called at the moment though.

Would that be trip-hop? I'm not too too familiar with the Chemical Brothers, I'm into more of the Hardcore/Happyhardcore sort of stuff and Goa here and there.

Hey no problem, anytime.

I've only listened to trip-hop once or twice and I have to say I never really cared that much for it. Then again, to me it sounded like it came from the origins of pure DnB.

I've been listening to some Benny Benassi recently, when I felt the need for something fast. I enjoy it, don't really know if its similar to Paul Oakenfold, but it gets me going.

i wouldn't classify Paul Oakenfod as trance myself - i thought he was a hard house DJ, but then again, i'm such an old fart that i may have missed some Jon Carter-esque transformation...
