I went to see Shadows Fall live and they were pretty good, but I've got to say, Terror and Zao played much better live than Shadows Fall did. I touched Brian's hair twice but then got ran over by a few moshers.

I don't listen to much harcore or metal but my favorite new band is Killswitch Engage... they seem to capture a lot more than other metal bands I see and their message is really nice.

I really like Nine Inch Nails, but I'm also starting to get into more hardcore bands such as Blood for Blood or Ramalah, Trivium and Between The Buried and Me...

I forgot to mention my favorite hardcore/metal band. Has to be Cradle of Filth or In Flames. They just have those vocals that say to me: "I fucking rule". And their music is excellent on top of that. I've been out of the whole metal thing for a while though (been too consumed with industrial).

The Black Dahlia Murder, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Lamb of God/Burn the Priest, Bury Your Dead, The Chariot, Norma Jean, and The Haunted are by far my favorite of the two genres.

Man jesus, me and you are like the same person. I can't stand a lot of heavy metal stuff, but recently the only metal that appeals to me in Killswitch Engage. My friend let me borrow a cd, and I put it on my computer and it occasionally pops up now and then and I think its pretty decent music.

I don't really listen to bands. I download DJ mixes and club recordings. Last thing I got was: DJ_Bart_Mix_Session.

I'm into a TON of metal bands, but right now I'm leaning toward Falkenbach, Finntroll, Amon Amarth, and Children of Bodom.

Seen em' live. In all honesty, they rock. The thing that sucks, when I saw them, it was when I went to see The Used and MCR, I didn't go to see Engage, and I wasn't even into anything hardcore at the time.

Right now, I've been listening to a lot of As I Lay Dying, but I'm still a big fan of Killswitch and I've liked this smaller band Nodes Of Ranvier since I saw em and met the singer.

I LOVE! Norma Jean, Mortal Treason, The Chariot and a lot of other death metal bands! BUT I must say I'm really am getting into Still Remains and Symphony in peril. Those bands are like really insane! And nutz!! They have that insane metal scream and like nothing else. Well Still remians sings but Symphony in peril is all out screaming!!

Still Remains live is insane. I'm not usually a mosher, and during Still Remains play times I got my pit time in and then some. And as for you two that don't like metal but like Killswitch, I think that's common because my brother is the same way.

I use to be a real huge Godsmack fan. So much that I use to research their videos to see that "Awake" was filmed at an old prison about 50 miles away from me. I also use to be into Disturbed, but that faded off when they came out with the album with "Prayer" in it.

I can't pick one, but I have my tastes narrowed down to being majorly made up of three bands; Opeth, Meshuggah, and Nevermore. All three bands are different, and they're all incredible groups of musicians. Opeth have been a huge influence on my music.

I'm not sure how hardcore these are, but I like Godsmack, Disturber, Pantara and Rage Against the Machine is pretty good. I'm either old or not up to date because some of the bands listed here I've never heard of. Now I'll have to follow a few links just to see what they are and what I'm missing. :)

I'd have to say that my favorite hardcore/metal band would be, Through The Eyes of the Dead.

I saw them recently with Bodom and Chimaira and they were amazing. Next in line would have to be Mudvayne.

Hi, I'm a newbie here... and I'm pretty old SO that means I'm not "up" on all the genre's and their "definitions."

To me, Metal music is stuff like: old school -- Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, old Metallica, Megadeth, etc. Which are also my favorites.

But I also like Slipknot, Godsmack, Nine Inch Nails, System Of A Down, Hurt, and a few others that of course I can't think of right now, lol.

As for picking just one as THE favorite? Well, you guys will probably get tired of me saying it but I can never pick just one...

Cheers,
LIS

I, like a lot of people ITT, don't listen to too much heavy metal, but I've been known to listen to Slayer on occassion. Also, If System of a Down and Disturbed count, I like some of their stuff too. I have one more, but you have to promise not to laugh.....

......Sugar Rey's first two albums were heavy rock albums, and I really like their old rock. Unfortunately, no one else did, but everyone loved their one soft song, "Fly". Then they softened up, much to my dismay. A little of their soft stuff was good too, but they just slid down the slippery slope of selling out good music to give the mainstream what they want. :sigh:

Its going to have to be Iron Maiden for me!

I'm not really into the Hardcore stuff.

Isis is post-metal (or post-rock) of the sludge (or doom) variety. Listen (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=4045552) to any song of theirs and you'll see.

Yeah Isis are great, if you like them you should also check out Monster Bastard Project (www.myspace.com/monsterbastardproject)

ITs a shame they arent more bands like this out there really. A lot of post-rock bands tned to go the soft way and not show their balls. Monster Bastard Project are awesome as are Isis and Godspeed! You Black Emperor, though don't expect Godspeed to be brutal like Isis and Monster Bastard Project.
