Systems Engineer


Job Description:
We are looking for a systems engineer who is an expert at managing end-to-end IT functions including servers, networks, desktops, applications and databases. This critical position provides great visibility and individual growth potential for an ambitious IT professional, but also requires proven experience with exponential growth on a global scale. To thrive as a team member of CrowdGather, you must be highly enthusiastic, a motivated self-starter and embrace an intense, exciting, work-hard/play-hard environment.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure systems hardware and software. This individual will install all new hardware, systems and software for networks, as well as configure and maintain network services, equipment and devices. This individual will also participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the organization.

Skills:

  • 5+ years of Linux administration experience (Preferably CentOS/RedHat/Ubuntu)
  • Solid understanding of Amazon Web Services (EC2/EBS/S3/SES/Route53/ELB)
  • Advanced knowledge of configuring and optimizing Apache, Nginx and Memcached services
  • Extensive knowledge of configuring and optimizing MySQL and MySQL Replication
  • Experience with nagios, monyog and observium monitoring tools
  • Experience with Citrix Xenserver Virtualization
  • Knowledge of Dell Equallogic Storage Area Network arrays
  • Experience managing Foundry and Juniper networking gear via CLI
  • Experience managing large server clusters in high volume environments
  • Experience with scalable networks and Load Balanced environments
  • Basic understanding of network protocols, vlans, NAT and routing
  • Scripting in at least one language other than BASH, (eg. Perl, PHP, Python)
  • Stellar problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Self-reliant, result-oriented, organized, and reliable
  • On-call 365/24/7

Responsibilities:

  • Manage configuration, administration, upgrade and maintenance of servers, DB clusters and networks
  • Responsible for MySQL installations and upgrades, web farm upgrades, implementation of system administration and monitoring tools
  • Research and resolve complex problems encountered during the installation and operation of our software applications to ensure negligible impact on both client and internal operations
  • Maintain uninterrupted production systems and 99.9% application and system uptime
  • Continually improve and optimize overall system performance
  • Remain on-call for emergencies involving network operations
  • Assist in implementing disaster recovery and system failover efforts
  • Daily production support, troubleshooting, problem diagnosis
  • Implement and maintain information security policies and procedures
  • Participate in meetings and provide technical assistance and interpretation to Executive Staff on issues affecting company-wide computer hardware, software, and systems needs

Software Engineer – PHP


Job Description:
Are you a fan of forums? Do you have experience in developing and launching products with a social, community building focus? We are seeking a senior PHP engineer to bring his/her strategic vision and expertise to help build the next generation of a scalable forum software platform that will be used by millions of forum members every day. You should have at least some experience or interaction with forums and understand basic forum feature sets and functions. You need to have a passion for taking on challenges and you should thrive on creating refined, simple solutions to complex problems. To excel as a team member of CrowdGather, you must be highly enthusiastic, a motivated self-starter and embrace an intense, exciting, hard working environment.

As a member of CrowdGather’s engineering team, we want you to bring your experience in building real products from the ground up. Your teammates should see you as a programming expert and go to you for help with some of their toughest challenges. You should be comfortable jumping in the deep end and learning new skills on a massive scale platform. Our engineers play a critical role in product development so bring your creative ideas to the table. Skills:

  • 5+ years of practical, working experience on LAMP
  • 5+ years of experience with MySQL, including complex SQL statements and DB schema design
  • Exposure to high-performance and large-scale computing challenges
  • Knowledge of AJAX/Javascript/CSS/HTML
  • Knowledge of design, coding and testing patterns of web applications
  • Understanding of project management tools (JIRA) and version control (Git) is a bonus
  • Stellar problem solving and coding skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform as a team lead within an engineering group

  • Develop features and code improvements per design requirements

Online Account Executive

CrowdGather is currently looking for a mid-level sales professional to join our advertising sales team. Candidate must be motivated, optimistic, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and have effective problem solving skills.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Generating advertising revenue by contacting potential new clients across the U.S.
  • Ability to produce 50-60 sales calls per day
  • Ability to spend 4+ hours a day on the phone consulting with media buyers and business owners
  • Help customers maximize the value of their current advertising
  • Rapidly build and manage your own book of business
  • Comprehensive understanding of the online advertising marketplace including current trends and issues
  • Experience creating innovative and turn-key sales proposals and creating solutions for advertisers
  • Highly-developed written and verbal presentational skills
